30 Minutes to Lake Tahoe

29 Apr

One of the things I love about living in Reno is Lake Tahoe is just 30 minutes away. If you’ve never been there I recommend seeing it once in your lifetime. It’s the second deepest lake in the world and not only is it a truly beautiful site to see, but there’s a lot to do in the area. In the wintertime, it’s known for the powder on the mountains and people come from all over the world to go skiing and snowboarding. In the summertime, I like to go hiking on the Tahoe Rim Trail because it’s a little bit cooler than Reno because it’s over 6,000 feet in elevation.

Emerald Bay

I’ve done the MS Dixie cruise and had dinner on the tour boat with stunning views of all over the lake. The tour took us around Emerald Bay which is a famous part of the lake. For those of you who like to gamble, South Lake Tahoe is an entertaining place to stay and enjoy some live shows. I’ve heard of the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival they put on every year, but I’ve yet to attend. It’s July 12 – August 25 this year and the venue is right on the beach. You get the chance to view beautiful Lake Tahoe from your seat. People have told me that it’s romantic and an overall good experience.

Have you been to Lake Tahoe before? If so, please tell me your favorite places.

Thank you for reading!
